Kotatsu from Nitori. There’s no central heating in Japan and the houses aren’t insulated. Therefore, it’s inefficient to use heaters. A kotatsu will heat a critical cold point —your feet. If your feet are warm, the rest of your body will be comfortable. Kotasus are also cheap on electricity. Using an AC for is expensive and dries the air. My kotatsu costs 1,000 yen per month if left on 24/7. Total set, including two blankets & two low chairs: 20,000 yen.
